Huskies Down Queens College in NCAA Regional Tennis

WORCESTER, MA--The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team advanced to the finals of the NCAA East Regional championships with a 5-0 win over Queens College of New York Friday afternoon. The Huskies will play the winner of Assumption/Dowling for the right to advance to the NCAA Division II championship round.

Bloomsburg opened play with a 3-0 win in doubles over the Knights of Queens. Number one team Kris Shumway and Mike McGrath posted an 8-3 win to improve to 11-6 for the year. At number two Mark Vellek and Kurst Caster also posted an 8-3 win with Alex Kalezic and Brendon Miller winning 8-6 at number three.

Moving on to singles play the Huskies Vellek picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at number four before Caster won by default at number one. Caster was leading 6-0, 3-0 in the second when his opponent retired.

Bloomsburg improves to 13-6 with the win. For Immediate Release
