Huskies Men's Tennis Drop Thriller to Dowling

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team was upset Sunday by Dowling College, 5-4, dropping its record to 14-6 on the season.

In singles action the Huskies dropped a deciding three setter at number one as Mike McGrath (Media/Penncrest) fell to Peter Vesolovski, 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-3. At number two, Aleks Kalezic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) lost in three sets, while Brian Bogus (Conroe, TX/Oak Ridge) pulled of his match in three sets winning the decisive set 6-4. Mark Vellek (Sioux Falls, SD/Washington dropped his match at number four while Kurt Caster (Montoursville/Williamsport) picked up the slack claiming a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number five. Mark Farnsworth (Audubon/Methacton) lost at number six in three sets.

In doubles play, the Huskies picked up a at number two from Bogus/Caster who pulled out a 9-8 (2) victory after leading the match 7-4. Vellek/Brendan Miller (New Providence/Lampeter-Strasburg) cruised at number three doubles winning 8-1.

The Huskies will next be in action Wednesday as they play host to Division I opponent Bucknell at 4 p.m.
