Huskies Defeat Queens College in Men's Tennis

BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team defeated Queens College on the first day of the Bloomsburg Duals, 8-1. With the win, the Huskies improve to 9-5 on the season.

The Huskies won five of six singles matches and swept all three doubles matches. At number one singles, Mike McGrath defeated Queen's Chris Mullins, 6-4, 6-1. Brian Bogus won his singles match 7-5, 6-2 while Mark Vellek made quick work of Costas Efstathiou at number three singles, winning 6-2, 6-1. Playing at number five singles, Kurt Caster picked up a win 6-4, 6-2. Brendan Miller also won his match at number six singles by the score of 6-2, 6-3.

The double's team of Aleks Kalezic and McGrath defeated Queen's Wojciech Stuchlik and Mullins, 8-3. At number two doubles, Bogus and Caster won handily over Ricardo Yepes and Efstathio, 8-1. At number three, Mark Farnsworth and Vellek picked up the win, 8-5.

The Huskies return to action tomorrow to take on Franklin Pierce at 8:30 a.m. They will also play Bryant College at 1:30 p.m.
