Huskies Improve Record to 2-1 After Weekend at Colgate

HAMILTON, NY— The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team went 1-1 this weekend, falling to Colgate on Friday night, before bouncing back to defeat Niagara on Saturday.

In Bloomsburg's 7-0 loss to Colgate, the Huskies dropped two doubles matches 9-7, and lost two three-set matches in singles play. Mike McGrath fell to Reed Hagmann in three sets at the number one position, while Aleks Kalezic was also defeated in three sets at second singles.

Bouncing back from the loss, the Huskies defeated Niagara, 6-1. The team was led by McGrath who recorded wins at the number one doubles and singles position. In singles, McGrath defeated Johnathan Bozanich, 6-3, 6-1 and then teamed up with Kalezic to win at the first doubles position, 8-6.

Brian Bogus, Kurt Caster and Mark Vellek all recorded wins at doubles and singles positions, as well, for the Huskies. Bogus and Caster teamed up to defeat Niagara at the second doubles position, 8-6, while Vellek and Mark Farnsworth won at number three doubles, 8-3.

The Huskies, now 2-1 on the season, will play Drexel, Friday, Feb. 27 at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.
