Bloomsburg Falls in Men's Tennis

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to Georgia College and State University, Thursday in Hilton Head, SC.

The Huskies, 5-5, picked up wins in two out of the three doubles matches with Mike McGrath (Media/Penncrest) and Aleks Kalezic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) winning at number one, 8-4. The team of Kurt Caster (Montoursville/Williamsport) and Brian Bogus (Conroe, TX/Oak Ridge) cruised to an 8-1 victory at number two.

In singles, McGrath won at number one in routine fashion, 6-2, 6-0. Kalezic dropped the second singles match, 6-4, 6-3, while Bogus was unable to pull out his match at number three losing, 7-5, 7-5. Mark Vellek (Sioux Falls, SD/Washington) staged two come-backs in his match at number four before falling, 6-4, 6-3. At number five, Caster earned the win after Brandon Lee of Georgia State and College was forced to retire in the third set. Brendan Miller (New Providence/Lampeter-Strasburg) played a tough first set before dropping a quick second losing 7-5,6-1.
