Men's Tennis Falls in South Carolina

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team fell to Northern Kentucky, 5-4, Monday in Hilton Head, SC.

The Huskies, 2-4, took two of the three doubles matches getting wins from the team of Aleks Kalezic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) and Brian Bogus (Conroe, TX/Oak Ridge), 8-3, at number two, while Kurt Caster (Montoursville/Williamsport) and Mark Farnsworth (Audubon/Methacton) won 9-8 (5) at number three.

In singles, Mike McGrath (Media/Penncrest) dropped two tight sets falling to 6-4, 6-4 while Kalezic fell, 6-4, 7-6 (5) at number two. Bogus cruised to a 4-0 lead in the first set before Northern Kentucky's Mereh Pauloh came back to win the match, 5-7, 6-3, (10-8). At number four singles the Huskies picked up their first singles win of the day from Mark Vellek (Sioux Falls, SD/Washington) who cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Kurt Caster battled back in a hard fought match at number five to overcome Billy Hopkins, 4-6, 7-6(2), (10-6). Brendan Miller (New Providence/Lampeter-Strasburg) fell, 6-2, 6-3, at number six.
