Huskies Advance to Championship of NCAA Division II East Regional Men's Tennis Championships

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team advanced to the championship match of the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships with a 5-1 victory over Concordia College Friday afternoon.

The Huskies started the match by grabbing a 2-1 lead after the completion of the doubles competition. Bloomsburg got an 8-3 win from the team of Brian Bogus and Kurt Caster and an 8-0 win from Mark Vellek and Brendan Miller at number three. In the number one doubles match, Concordia's team of Huybert Koen and Christian Tiongko pulled out a 9-7 win over the team of Mike McGrath and Aleks Kalezic.

Moving to singles action Bloomsburg picked up three wins to end the match and earn the 5-1 victory. Brian Bogus was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at three singles, while Kurt Caster won at number four, 6-3, 6-4 with Brendan Miller winning at six, 6-0, 6-0.

The Huskies will move on to face Dowling Saturday at 9 a.m. for the East Region Championship. Dowling was 5-2 winner over Mercy in the other semifinal match.
