Bloomsburg Men's Tennis Drops Tight Matches Versus Dowling

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Dowling College on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies came away with one doubles win with the team of Kevin Wenck (Allentown/Parkland) and Mark Farnsworth (Audubon/Methacton) winning 8-1 at number two.

In singles play, Mark Vellek (Sioux Falls, SD/Washington) won a tight fought match at number three winning 7-6(1), 7-5. Farnsworth needed a tiebreaker to win the first set before cruising in the second earning a 7-6(0), 6-3 victory, while Cory Smith (Doylestown/C.B. West) cruised at flight six, 6-1, 6-0. With the match knotted up at four matches a piece, Dan Gal (South Park/South Park) fell in a hard fought three setter losing 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 at number two.

The Huskies fall to 8-8 with the loss and will next be in action as they travel to play Bucknell at 4:00 p.m. in their regular season finale on Wednesday.
