Huskies' Men's Tennis Wins Thriller

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team defeated Niagara, 4-3, Saturday.

The Huskies won the doubles point winning two out of the three doubles match-ups. The team of Kevin Wenck (Allentown/Parkland) and Cory Smith picked up a routine win at number three doubles winning 8-2, while the team of Brian Bogus (Conroe, TX/Oak Ridge) and Dan Gal (South Park/South Park) sealed the doubles point for the Huskies pulling out a tight 9-7 victory.

In singles play, Mark Farnsworth (Audubon/Methacton) picked up the Huskies first win at number six winning 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1. Gal followed up by taking the fourth flight singles match 6-2, 7-5. With the match tied 3-3 with one match left to be finished, Mark Vellek (Sioux Falls, SD/Washington) sealed the victory finishing off a come from behind victory at number three, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3.

The Huskies improve to 1-2 on the season and will next be in action March seventh as they travel to Hawaii to take on Chaminade at 2 p.m.
