Tennis Teams Ranked in East

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's tennis teams as well as several individuals from those teams have been ranked amongst the East Regions elite in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Rankings released Monday.
The women's team has been ranked number one in the East Region and 26th nationally. The Huskies were previously ranked as high as 19th nationally, however, have held on to the number one ranking in the East Region all season.
Iida Hokkanen (Helsinki, Finland) is the Huskies highest ranked singles player at number six in the region, while Emily Murphy (Montgomery/Methacton) is also ranked in singles at number 14. In doubles, the team of Hokkanen and Emily Pratt (New Hope/New Hope-Solebury) is ranked fourth in the region.
The men's team has been ranked in a tie for fourth in the East Region with Queens (NY). Individually, Mike McGrath (Media/Penncrest) is the Huskies highest ranked singles player at number eight in the region, while Brian Bogus (Conroe, TX/Oak Ridge) is ranked 13th. Dan Gal (South Park/South Park) slipped in the rankings tied with three players at number 15 in the region. In doubles, the team of McGrath and Mark Vellek (Sioux Falls, SD/Washington) is ranked third in the East Region, while the Huskies number two doubles team, Bogus and Gal, are ranked eighth. The Huskies are the only team in the East Region to have two doubles teams ranked.
Both teams will next be in action Wednesday as they host conference rival Kutztown University at 3:00 p.m.
