Bloomsburg Track Takes Part in Christopher Newport InvitationalNEWPORT NEWS, VA The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams took part in the Christopher Newport Invitational on Saturday and turned in some personal best marks during the meet. For the women, Jessica Lightcap (Pottstown/Pottstown) was first in the 10,000 meters in 43:53, while Autumn Simmons (Northumberland/Shikellamy) was second in 44:44. In the 1,500 meters, Katie Conlon (Inkerman/Pittston Area) was second in a time of 5:06.38, while in the 800-meters Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) took top honors in a time of 2:21.68. In the 3,000 meters, the Huskies swept the top three places. Danielle Kramer (Coal Township/Shamokin) was first in a personal-best and stadium record time of 17:32.72. Amanda Pisano (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) was second in 18:56.34, while Lisa Stefursky (Archbald/Valley View) set a new personal mark in a time of 19:45. It is the first time in Stefursky's career she has broken the 20-minute mark. For the men, Curtis Woodard (Sayre/Towanda) was second in the 1,500 meters in 4:09.03; while in the steeplechase, Eric Wolfgang (York/Central York) was third in a personal best and PSAC qualifying time of 9:51.19. In the 400 meters, Michael Cogan (Schnecksville/Parkland) was 7th in 51.37 second. In the 5,000 meters, Justin Dosch (Sunbury/Shikellamy) was first in 15:51.46 with Paul Gardiner second in 15:55.91. The Huskies are at Millersville Thursday for a PSAC quad-meet with Lock Haven and Shippensburg. |
