Kramer Wins PSAC Indoor Track ChampionshipEAST STROUDSBURG —Bloomsburg University track standout Danielle Kramer (Coal Township/Shamokin) added to her long list of the awards in her short career by winning the 2003 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference 5,000-meter championship.
Kramer, a sophomore, who qualified for the NCAA championships in both track and cross country as a freshman, won the championship in a time of 18:06. The title is the first-ever indoor championship for a Bloomsburg track athlete. In addition, the 4 x 800 relay team of Katie Conlon (Inkerman/Pittston Area), Mary Bacher (Allentown/Central Catholic), Jessica Billingsby (Birdgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) and Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) finished 6th in a time of 9:53. On the men's side, Justin Dosch (Sunbury/Shikellamy) took 13th in the 5,000-meters in a time of 16:17, while the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team of Curtis Woodard (Sayre/Towanda), Jason Sheldon (North Hills/Abington), Dave Gamsby (McAfee, NJ/Vernon Twp) and Brandon Palmer (Carlisle/Big Spring) were 8th in 10:55. Qualifying for Sunday's 55-meter final were Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) and BeJey Thomas (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg). McGhee qualified in a time of 6.58, while Thomas qualified in 6.61. In the 200-meter event, Thomas also reached Sunday's final with a time of 22.92. Action will conclude Sunday at the championships being held at East Stroudsburg's Kohler Field House. |
