Bloomsburg Track Teams Compete in Susquehanna Invitational
BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University track teams competed in the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday. Several runners qualified for the PSAC Championships despite difficult weather conditions.
In his first ever 10,000-meter race, Paul Gardiner took third place in a PSAC qualifying time of 33.10. Also running her first ever 10,000-meter race, Amanda Pisano placed second in a PSAC qualifying time of 39.16.
In the men's 1,500-meter race, Curtis Woodard finished 3rd in 4:08.44. The time is less than 2 seconds from a PSAC qualifying time. In the women's race, Mary Bacher finished 5th in 5:06.50, also less than 2 seconds from a PSAC qualifying time.
In the women's 400-meter race, Cherise Mercer finished 3rd in 1:01.00, a PSAC qualifying time. Just an hour and a half later, she went on to finish 7th in the 800-meter race in a PSAC qualifying time of 2:23.06.
In the steeplechase Eric Wolfgang, knocking 14 seconds off his previous best set just last week, finished 5th in a time of 10:06.96.
In the men's 100-meter race, Greg McGhee finished 3rd in a time of 11.19. The time improved his previous PSAC qualifying time of 11.24. McGhee also finished 5th in the 200-meter race. His time of 22.83 is just .03 off the PSAC qualifying time of 22.80.
Both track teams will be back in action on April 5th at the Captain's Classic at Christopher Newport.
