Huskies Fare Well at Bucknell Indoor Track Invitational
LEWISBURG—The Bloomsburg Huskies indoor track team took part in the Bucknell Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
In the women's 5000 meters on Friday, freshman Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) won heat number two of the evening in 19:15 and also qualified for the PSAC Indoor Track Championships. Karen Hause (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) was third in the heat in a personal best time for her of 19:50. Freshman Ann Stefursky (Archbald/Valley View) also competed in her first-ever 5000 meter indoor event and ran 20:08.
In the men's 5000 meter race on Friday, Eric Wolfgang (York/Central York) was third of 18 in his heat in a time of 16:15, while Bill Shepardson (McMurray/Peters Township) was sixth in the event in 16:26.
In the women's mile, Mary Bacher (Allentown/Central Catholic) ran a PSAC-qualifying time of 5:33, while in the men's mile Brandon Palmer (Carlisle/Big Spring) ran a 4:36, just two seconds shy of the PSAC qualifying time.
In the men's 60 meter race, Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) ran a 7:21 in the prelims and was fourth in the finals in a time of 07:15, which qualified him for the PSAC championships. He also ran in the 200 meter race and was second in his heat in a PSAC-qualifying time of 23:34.
In the women's 800 meters, Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) was second in her heat in a PSAC-qualifying time of 2:26.
In the women's 3000 meters, Amanda Pisano (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) took third in the fastest heat of the night in a time of 10:34, good enough to qualify for the PSAC championships.
Finally, in the men's 3000 meter race, Justin Dosch (Sunbury/Shikellamny) was eighth of 20 in the fastest heat of the night and ran a time of 9:08.
