Indoor Track Team Runs Well at SusquehannaBLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams opened their indoor season at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday. The Huskies were able to qualify four runners into the PSAC Indoor Championships based on their performance Saturday.
Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) finished second overall in the 55-yard dash in a time of 6.66, good enough to qualify for the PSAC Championships. McGhee also finished 11th in the 200 yard dash in 23.89. Brandon Palmer (Carlisle/Big Springs) and Curtis Woodard (Sayre/Towanda) ran well for the Huskies in the 1500. Palmer finished in 4:18, good enough for 15th place while Woodward took 18th in 4:20.
Bloomsburg qualified two distance runners into the PSAC Championships in the 5000 meters. Both Justin Dosch (Sunbury/Shikellamy) and Paul Gardiner (Airville/Kennard Dale) qualified for the February 28th meet. Dosch finished eighth out of 36 runners in a time of 15:58. Gardiner was not far behind, taking 11th place in 16:02.
The women's team also had a sound day at Susquehanna highlighted by Amanda Pisano's (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) finish in the 5000. Pisano finished the course in 18:21 and placed fourth overall. Her performance landed her a spot in next month's championships. Freshman Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) placed ninth in the 5000 in 19:47.
Mary Bacher (Allentown/Central Catholic) turned in a strong performance in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 5:15.37, while Terri Sutherland (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) was 14th in 5:29.96.
In the 800-meter race, Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) placed ninth, finishing with a time of 2:33.92, while Marcie Rumfield (Northampton/ Northampton) was 15th in 2:38.93.
The Huskies will be back in action Jan. 30 and 31 at the Bucknell University Invitational. The distance events will be held Friday, and the remainder of the meet will conclude on Saturday.
