Huskies Turn in Strong Performace at Susquehanna Invitational

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University track team ran well at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday, qualifying five runners for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships to be held in May.

Bloomsburg placed two runners in the top six of the women's 10,000 meter race as Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) came in 4th in 39:35.16 while Karen Hause (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) finished sixth in 40:49.21. Bounds' time qualified her for the PSAC Championships.

In the women's 1500, Katie Conlon (Inkerman/Pittston) took ninth in 5:04.24, good enough to qualify for the Championships. Ella Daniels (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) qualified in the 5000, finishing in a time of 19:09.12.

The Huskies also qualified two runners in the steeplechase event. Mary Bacher (Allentown/Central Catholic) turned in a fifth place performance in 11:37.64 while Terri Sutherland (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) finished the course in 12:26.81, good enough for 16th.

Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) improved her time in the 800, placing third in 2:19.26.

On the men's side, Michael Cogan (Schnecksville/Parkland) turned in an impressive time of 22:82 in the 200 meters to take third place in a field of 45 runners.

The Huskies track team returns to action on April 3rd at the Misericordia Invitational.
