Track Runs at Lehigh

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University Track team took part in the Lehigh Games on Saturday.

For the men, Bill Shepardson led the way with a third place finish in the 5000 meters in 15:33.77. Mike Espinosa finished seconds behind Shepardson, taking fifth in 15:40.30.

In the 200 meter dash, Jamie Ruth placed fourth in a time of 23.10 while Greg McGhee took sixth in 23.38. McGhee also placed sixth in the 100 meters in 11.40.

Dave Sanford also turned in a strong performance in the 1500 meters, taking fourth in 4:03.43.

On the women's side, Mary Bacher and Cherise Mercer paced the Huskies.

Bacher took fifth in the steeplechase in a time of 11:30.71 while Mercer was the winner in the 800 meters, finishing in a time of 2:16.79.

Connie Raineri also ran well for Bloomsburg, taking second in the 400 meters in 1:01.64. Laura Duceman was not far behind Raineri, taking fifth in 1:02.10.

Karen Hause paced the Huskies in the 5000 meters with a sixth place showing, finishing in 19:06.64 while Ella Daniels took eighth in 19:30.63.

The Huskies return to action as they travel to Lock Haven on May 7th.
