Bloomsburg Results from Day One of PSAC Track Championships

MANSFIELD —The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams are taking part in the 2005 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships at Mansfield.

In day one action for the men, at 10,000 meters Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) earned All-Conference honors with a third place finish in a time of 31:06.02. It is the first All-Conference honor for Shepherd. Also, at 10,000 meters, Tim Marcoe (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) finished in 33:13.65, while Ben Holmes (Waynesboro/Waynesboro) ran a 35:27.39.

In prelims, Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) ran the second fastest time, 11:02, at 100 meters and will advance to the Saturday finals. At 200 meters, McGhee slipped out of the blocks and finished with the 12th fastest time of 22.75 seconds.

In the 400 meter prelims, Jamie Ruth (Newtown/Council Rock North) finished with the eighth best time of 49.56, while at 800 meters, Matt Corridoni (Pittston/Pittston Area) ran a 2:00.18, but did not advance to the finals.

For the women, Karen Hause (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) finished 10th at 10,000 meters in a time of 39:49.19, while in the long jump finals, Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/St. Pius X) was 13th with a jump of 16-0 ½ inches.

At 800 meters, Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) ran the fastest time in the prelims finishing with a time of 2:16.09. She will be the top seed going into the Saturday's finals.
