Bloomsburg Runners at Susquehanna Invitational

SELINSGROVE —The Bloomsburg University men's and women's indoor track team took part in the Susquehanna University Maroon and Orange Invitational on Friday night.

In men's action, Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) took first in the 200-meter event in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying time of 23.32. McGhee also took second in the 55-meters in 6.63 seconds, which was also a PSAC-qualifying time.

In the 800-meter event, Matt Corridoni (Pittston/Pittston Area) was third in 2:01.57. In the 5000-meter race, Bill Shephardson (McMurray/Peters Township) was second in 15:46 with Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Tonwship/Seneca Valley) third with an identical time with both runners qualifying for the PSAC championships.

In the 1500-meter event, Dave Sanford (Nescopeck/Central Columbia) was seventh and Mike Espinosa (Media/Penncrest) ninth in PSAC qualifying times of 4:09 and 4:10, respectively.

For the women, Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) was third in the 800-meters in 2:28.76, while Katie Conlon (Inkerman/Pittston Area) was fifth in the 1,500-meters in 5:17.84. In the 5000-meter race, the Huskies took places two, three and four. Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) was second in 18:56, while Karen Hause (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) was third in 19:10 and Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) fourth in 19:18. All three runners in the 5,000-meter race qualified for the PSAC championships with their times.
