Bloomsburg Track at Virginia Commonwealth Meet

RICHMOND, VA —The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track team is taking part in the Virginia Commonwealth University Track Invitational.

On Saturday in the men's 100-meters, Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) was 11th of 39 runners with a PSAC-Qualifying time of 11.14 seconds. Tim Hughes (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) also ran a PSAC-qualifying time of 11.28 and was 16th in the field.

In the men's 400-meter race, Jamie Ruth was 15th of 54 in a PSAC-qualifying time of 50.61 seconds. In the 800-meter race, Matt Corridoni (Pittston/Pittston Area) was fourth of 45 runners in a time of 1:59.93, narrowly missing the PSAC standard.

In the 200-meter, McGhee and Hughes ran 22.81 and 23.81 respectively for the Huskies with McGhee taking 10th and Hughes 31st of 53 runners.

In the men's 4 x 100, Hughes, McGhee, Andre Odom (Philadelphia/George Washington) and Marcus Waddy (Philadelphia/Frankford) were seventh in the field in a time of 44.93 seconds, while Ruth, Sam Martin, McGhee and Corridoni were eighth in the 4 x 400 in 3:27.19.

For the women, Cherise Mercer (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) had the top finish taking third in the 800-meters in a PSAC-qualifying time of 2:19.67.

On Friday, Mary Bacher (New Tripoli/Central Catholic) qualified for the PSAC championships in the steeplechase with a time of 11:48 finishing third in the field. In the men's steeplechase, Mike Espinosa was 13th and qualified for PSACs with a time of 10:00.

In the women's 1500-meters, Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) took 15th in 4:53, while Katie Conlon (Inkerman/Pittston Area) was 26th in 5:01. Both runners qualified for PSACs with their times. In the men's 1500-meters, Dave Sanford (Nescopeck/Central Columbia) took ninth in 4:02 and also qualified for the PSAC championships.

At 5000-meters, Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) ran 18:42 and Karen Hause (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) 18:52 and qualified for PSACs. For the men at 5000-meters, Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) was seventh of 45 in a PSAC-qualifying timer of 15:28.

In the women's long jump, Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/St. Pius X) qualified for the PSAC championships with a jump of 16 feet 7 inches.

The Huskies will be back in action at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday, March 26th.
