Bloomsburg Track Wins Three Events at Susquehanna

BLOOMSBURG - The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams had eleven top-ten finishes, including three wins at Susquehanna University on Friday night.
In the women's 3000-meters, freshman Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) took top honors improving her Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying time to 10:28.16 while Tonia Zangari (Sunbury/Shikellamy) took 8th place, in a PSAC qualifying time of 10:55.84.
In the women's 5000 meters, Mary Bacher (New Tripoli/Central Catholic) ran an impressive race, taking first out of 14 runners with a PSAC qualifying time of 19:21.03. Shannon Hoffman (Watstontown/Warrior Run) took second for the Huskies running the event in 19:32.77.
Connie Rainieri (Gilbertville/Saint Pius X) notched two top-ten finishes for Bloomsburg placing second in the 400 in a PSAC qualifying time of 60.58. She also placed fourth out of 25 competitors in the long jump.
For the men, Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) took first in the 200-meter dash surpassing a field of 31 in a time of 23.09. In the mile, Dan Ezzi (Mechanicsburg/Trinity) took seventh while Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) took ninth. Ezzi's time of 4:32.26 qualified him for the PSAC championships while Dalton just missed the qualifying time of 4:33.00 running the event in 4:33.87.
In the men's 5000-meters, the Huskies had a strong showing from two freshmen. Tony Skiles (West Reading/Wyomissing) took third in 16:07.83 while Mikhail Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) placed sevenths in 16:14.70.
The Huskies are idle until February 25-26th when they compete in the PSAC Indoor Championships.
