Glaze, a 5-10, 195 pounder, is attempting to make the squad as a free agent after being signed to a contract after not being selected in the recently held NFL draft.

According to the Rams web site, the mini-camp will help prepare the young players for what is to come later.

“I think the thing that is always hard for these young guys is just getting orientated,” Rams head coach Mike Martz said after practice. “This is the first time that we had a mini-camp where the new guys take all of the snaps.”

“From that aspect, there is a great deal of learning that goes on, they make a lot of mistakes, but I think their learning curve is really sped up,” Martz added. “In the second mini-camp will allow these guys to be a little further on than they would normally be in a second mini-camp. So, that is why we did it this way.”

More than 50 players, mostly rookies and young veterans, were invited to the camp. The Rams coaches used it as an opportunity to teach the younger players the offensive and defensive systems.

Glaze, the 2001 PSAC Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Year, gained 3,329 yards in his regular-season Bloomsburg career, third best in school history. He also scored 41 touchdowns for the Huskies and caught 24 passes for 248 yards. In five NCAA playoff games, Glaze rushed for another 576 yards and scored three touchdowns. In 2001, Glaze picked up 1,327 yards and scored 12 times while also making several tackles as a member of the punt coverage team. He helped the Huskies to a 9-2 record and a second straight berth to the NCAA Division II playoffs. As a junior in 2000, Glaze gained 1,354 yards and scored 14 touchdowns in the regular season as the Huskies made a run to the NCAA Division II title game.

Rams players have a mandatory mini-camp scheduled for June 1-3 at Rams Park. The team is scheduled report to training camp at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, on July 26, and will play their first preseason game at Tennessee on August 10th. The Rams will open the regular season at Denver on September 8.
