Cowher and Shnyder Earn PSAC Honors For Second Consecutive Week

BLOOMSBURG—Two Bloomsburg University freshmen have been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the second consecutive week.

Amber Cowher (Williamsport/Williamsport) was named Pitcher of the Week after allowing just two unearned runs in 11 innings on her way to two wins. Cowher gave up just two hits and struck out six as Bloomsburg defeated Mansfield 8-1 on April 19.

She also pitched four innings of relief in a ten-inning game against Shippensburg Saturday. Bloomsburg won the game, 9-6, and Cowher got her 14th win of the year.

Cowher is now 14-3 on the season. She has a 1.20 ERA, and has struck out 78 batters in 117 innings, while walking just 20.

Jessica Shnyder (Milton/Milton) won her second straight Player of the Week honors after hitting 7-for-14 with three home runs, and six RBIs. She was 5-for-7 with three homers, six runs scored and four RBIs in a doubleheader with Mansfield. She had two homers in game two of the twinbill.

This Saturday against Shippensburg, Shnyder had a two-run triple in the top of the tenth inning to help Bloomsburg get the 9-6 win.

Shnyder is hitting .410 (50-122) for the season. She has six homers and 32 RBIs.

Bloomsburg is 30-5, 14-4 in the PSAC Eastern Division. The Huskies entertain Millersville Tuesday, April 24, for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
