Bloomsburg's Cooper Wins Second Straight Pitcher of the Week Award

BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University softball pitcher Kerri Cooper (Markam, Ont./Markham District) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 14th.

It is the second straight week Cooper has been honored by the PSAC as the Pitcher of the Week.

In two games last week Cooper was 2-0 with a 0.78 ERA. In her first game of the week against West Chester Cooper achieved perfection with a five-inning perfect game victory over the Golden Rams. Cooper struck out seven and went to three balls on just one batter. The perfect game was the first of her collegiate career and ninth in school history. She followed up the no-hitter with a win over East Stroudsburg in which she surrendered three hits and one run in four innings of work. For the week she fanned eight and walked just one.

On the year Cooper is 11-1 with a 0.73 ERA and a team-high 80 strikeouts. She has thrown four shutouts and nine complete games.

Bloomsburg is 27-3, 13-1 in the PSAC East, and will visit Shippensburg Wednesday at 3 p.m. for a doubleheader.
