Bloomsburg Huskies Softball Moving Back Up the Rankings
BLOOMSBURG— The Bloomsburg University softball team has moved up in the latest division II rankings according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). In the current NFCA top 25 poll, the Huskies are ranked eighth in the nation, moving up six spots from number 14 in the last poll.
The Huskies leading hitters are Deanne Wolfe (Milton/Milton) who is batting .327 with a homerun and nine RBI. Jess Shnyder (Milton/Milton) leads the team in hits with 26, and is batting .306 with 2 homeruns and 13 RBI. Amanda Breon (Bellefonte/Bellefonte Area) leads the team in RBI with 14, and is batting .247 with two homeruns.
Bloomsburg's tough pitching staff has a combined ERA of 1.23. They are led by Amber Cowher (Williamsport/Williamsport), with a 9-4 record, and a 1.55 ERA to go along with 80 strikeouts. Also pitching well is Jamie Wilson (Olyphant/Bishop O'Hara), who has a 5-2 record with a 0.95 ERA, and Amanda Smith (Sandy Ridge/Philipsburg-Osceola) who is 3-0 with a 0.91 ERA, with three saves.
The Huskies will take on the Warriors of East Stroudsburg on Thursday, and Shippensburg on Saturday. Both games will be at Bloomsburg.
