Jess Shnyder Named Third Team All-American![]() BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University softball player Jess Shndyer (Milton/Milton) was named a third team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) at its annual banquet held at the site of the NCAA Division II national championships in Salem, OR. Shnyder, a junior, led the Huskies in several offensive categories during the 2003 season. She was first in batting with a mark of .333, runs scored with 31, hits with 57, doubles with 12, home runs with 12, slugging percentage with a mark of .596 and in runs batted in with 28. She was named first team All-PSAC East as well as first team NFCA All Mid-Atlantic for her play. During the 2003 season she was named PSAC East Player of the Week on April 21st after hitting .552 over an eight game stretch with four homers and 13 RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.207. Shnyder was 16-29 with 10 runs scored five doubles and one triple for 35 total bases in a 7-1 week. Shnyder was a first team All-American as a sophomore and joins 16 other former Blooms burg softball players as multiple All-American award winners. Bloomsburg posted a mark of 36-13 during the season and won the PSAC Eastern Division title. The team also advanced to the NCAA Division II national championships for the 21st consecutive season. |
