Bloomsburg Sweeps Millersville in Softball

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University softball team took a pair of 6-0 wins over Millersville University Friday afternoon.

The Huskies won both games by scores of 6-0.

In the opener, pitcher Amber Cowher ran her consecutive scoreless innings streak to 36 with a one-hit shutout over the Marauders. The only hit allowed by the junior was a sixth inning single by Amy Miller. Cowher struckout 10 and walked just three in earning her 13th win of the season.

The offense in game one was supplied by Jess Shnyder who went 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, including a home run. Sara Roba was 1-2 with two RBI.

In game two, Jamie Wilson threw a four-hit shutout at the Marauders and striking out eight along the way. Wilson was helped with offense from Amanda Breon who was 3-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Jess Shnyder who went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Bloomsburg, 27-7, 14-2 in the PSAC East, will host Mansfield Saturday at 1 p.m. (that is a change from the original start time of noon.)
