Bloomsburg Softball Drops First TwoFLORENCE, SCThe Bloomsburg University softball team dropped its first two games of the year Saturday losing to North Florida, 4-0, and Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-0. The Huskies had their first two games of the season rained out Friday in South Carolina. In game one, the Huskies managed just one hit in the game, a sixth inning double off the bat of Laurel Koster (Whitney Point, NY/Cicero North Syracuse). However, the two-out hit was followed by a strikeout, one of 13 in the game for North Florida pitcher Gina Ripper, to end the threat. North Florida won the game with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Cathy Jester UNF by going 2-3 in the game with a double. In game two, the Huskies again just managed one hit, a fifth inning single from Sara Roba (Emmaus/Emmaus). However, with runners at first and third and two outs, Lenoir-Rhyne got a strikeout of its own to end the threat. Lenoir-Rhyne scored one run in the second and two more in the fourth for the win. Bloomsburg, 0-2, will play St. Joseph's (IN) at 2:20 and New Haven at 4:10 p.m. on Monday.
