Box Score-GAME TWO

BLOOMSBURG —The Bloomsburg University softball team swept a pair of games with East Stroudsburg on Friday winning 7-4 and 3-2.

In the opener, the Huskies and Warriors were locked in a 2-2 battle going into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Huskies scored fives to grab control of the game. The big hit in the inning came from Jess Shnyder (Milton/Milton) who had a run scoring triple, then scored on the play when the throw from the outfield got by the third baseman.

In the nightcap, the Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with Jodi Buffington and Crissy Wontronba getting RBI in the inning.

Bloomsburg rallied with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Alyson Taylor (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) doubled and Laurel Koster (Whitney Point, NY/Cicero N. Syracuse) reached on an error. Both runners moved up on a passed ball, then Taylor scored courtesy of another passed ball. Shnyder then followed with a two-run homer, her eighth of the year, to put Bloomsburg in front.

Bloomsburg pitcher Jaime Wilson then held the Warriors in check the remainder of the way, allowing just two hits over the final four innings. Wilson finished with four strikeouts and did not allow a walk in picking up her fourth win.

The Huskies, 23-10-1, 10-5-1 in the PSAC East, will host Kutztown on Saturday at noon at Jan Hutchinson Field. East Stroudsburg falls to 11-16-1, 5-8-1 in the PSAC East.
