Huskies Sweep in Softball Monday
OSCEOLA, FLThe Bloomsburg University softball swept a pair of games on the first day of its Florida trip. The Huskies beat Southwest Minnesota State University, 10-0, in five innings and Ashland University, 1-0, in eight innings.
In the opener, the Huskies scored at least once in all five innings on its way to the easy win. Jess Shnyder had a sacrifice fly RBI in the first, while Dee Wolfe added a two-run single in the second. Amanda Breon also had a two-run double for the Huskies.
In game two, the Huskies' Amber Cowher allowed just three hits and struckout 13 in earning her first shutout of the year. Bloomsburg scored the game's only run in the top of the eighth inning. Tin Jennosa started the inning at second base (tie-breaker rule) and was bunted over to third by Kelly Zarski. Alyson Taylor then followed with an RBI single. In the bottom half of the inning, Ashland had runners at first and third with one out, but could not score. Cowher ended the game with a strikeout for Bloomsburg.
The Huskies, 4-0, face Northern Kentucky and South Dakota on Tuesday.
