Huskies Down Shaw in Softball Friday

RALEIGH, NC— Bloomsburg University swept Shaw University in doubleheader women's softball action 9-0 and 7-1 on Friday. It was the season opener for the Huskies.

In game one, Bloomsburg's four-run second inning is all it would need as Tina Jennosa's three-run homer was the igniter. Amber Cowher gave up only three hits while striking out six.

In game two, Bloomsburg jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead off a Jess Snader three-run shot. Shaw would get one run back as Branda Best doubled down the left field line scoring Tanesha Haynes. That's all Bloomsburg would allow as Jaime Wilson and Amanda Smith combined for a two-hit, seven-strikeout performance.

Bloomsburg is 2-0.
