Bloomsburg Softball Falls to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville

OSCEOLA, FL—The Bloomsburg University softball team lost to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, 3-1, on Saturday on its final day of play in Florida.

Bloomsburg jumped out to the early lead in the game scoring once in the first inning. Jess Shnyder (Milton/Milton) opened the inning getting hit by a pitch. After Sammy Basalik (Warminster/William Tennent) sacrificed Shnyder to second, Dee Wolfe (Milton/Milton) singled and Sara Roba (Emmaus/Emmaus) walked to load the bases. Amanda Breon (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Shnyder with the game's first run.

SIUE pulled out the win, though, with single runs in the third, fourth and seventh innings. Bloomsburg did have numerous chances to score, but left the bases loaded several times and stranded a total of 14 runners.

Bloomsburg, 7-4, was concluding play on Saturday with a game against Wisconsin-Parkside.
