Bloomsburg Players Named All-PSAC in Softball

BLOOMSBURG—Seven Bloomsburg University softball players have earned All-PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors for the 2005 season.

Named first team All-PSAC Eastern Division were pitcher Jaime Wilson (Olyphant/Bishop O'Hara), shortstop Amanda Breon (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) and designated player Sara Roba (Emmaus/Emmaus).

Named second team All-PSAC were first baseman Dee Wolfe (Milton/Milton), second baseman Kelly Zarski (Danville/Danville); third baseman Laurel Koster (Whitney Point, NY/Cicero North) and pitcher Amanda Smith (Sandy Ridge/Philipsburg-Osceola).

Wilson earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career after posting a career-best record of 11-2 with a 1.03 ERA. She has struckout a career-high 90, while walking ust eight batters in 88 innings of work. She has also thrown seven complete games with three shutouts. A couple of highlights for Wilson this year was a perfect game against Mansfield and later being named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA during the week of April 11th.

Breon was named first team all conference for the second time in her career with one second team selection. For the year, Breon is hitting .388 with six home runs and a career-high 27 RBI. Breon also leads the Huskies in triples with seven and in total bases with 93.

Roba earned All-PSAC honors for the first time in her career. This season she is hitting .394 with a career and team-high eight homers and 48 RBI. She also leads the Huskies in slugging percentage with a mark of .724 and is second in doubles with 16 and third in hits with 50.

Wolfe is All-PSAC for the third time, the first two being first team selections. This year Wolfe leads the Huskies in hitting with a mark of .401 with three homers and a career-best 31 RBI.

Zarski earned All-PSAC honors for the first time and is hitting .306 with four homers and 27 RBI. She leads the team with six stolen bases and is third in runs scored with 34.

Koster has also earned her first all conference honor. The senior is batting a career-high .303 with four home runs and a career-high 28 RBI.

Smith, a first team selection last year, has posted a mark of 14-3 this year with a 1.31 ERA. She has 13 complete games, four shutouts and one save to go with a team-high 143 strikeouts.

Bloomsburg, 40-8, will be in action on Thursday at Shippensburg in the opening round of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional playoffs. The Huskies will take on Elizabeth City (NC) State of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). The Lady Vikings, 16-11 on the year, won the CIAA tournament to earn the automatic bid.
