Bloomsburg Softball Sweeps Past Columbia Union; Sheelin Fisher with Second No-Hitter
WASHINGTON, DC—The Bloomsburg University softball team swept two games from Columbia Union College on Sunday winning by scores of 16-0 and 21-0. Both games were called after five innings by the mercy rule.
Freshman pitcher Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) threw her second no-hitter of the season as the Huskies won game two 21-0. Fisher walked just one and fanned 11 to earn the win. Fisher is now 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. She has also struck out 32 and walked just five in 15 innings of work.
The game two offense was supplied by Dee Wolfe (Milton/Milton) who went 2-2 with a homer, double and four RBI and Amanda Breon (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) who went 2-3 with a homer and three RBI. Wolfe's home run was a two-run shot in the second inning, while Breon added a three-run shot in the third.
In the opener, the Huskies won 16-0 with Jen Probst (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) tossing a three-hitter and striking out nine.
Leading the offense for Bloomsburg in the opener was Alyson Taylor (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) who went 4-4 with a double, homer and four RBI, while Breon was 2-2 with two RBI. Sara Roba (Emmaus/Emmaus) also added a two-run single in the first for the Huskies.
The Huskies, 15-1, will play at Felecian College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
