Game Two Box

EAST STROUDSBURG— The Bloomsburg University softball team swept a pair of games from East Stroudsburg on Tuesday winning by scores of 6-2 and 1-0.

In game one, Sara Roba (Emmaus/Emmaus) and Alyson Taylor (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) each drove in two runs to back the strong pitching of Amanda Smith (Sandy Ridge/Philipsburg-Osceola) in the win. Roba drove in a run with a single in both the third and fifth innings, while Taylor gave the Huskies some insurance with a two-run double in the seventh.

Smith went the distance and allowed six hits and struckout 12.

In the nightcap, Laurel Koster (Whitney Point, NY/Cicero North) scored the game's only run on an error in the third inning. That was all Bloomsburg freshman pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) needed as she gave up just four hits, fanned eight and did not walk a batter.

Koster reached on a one-out walk, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored when Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/Lewisburg) reached on an error.

Bloomsburg improves to 35-5, 16-4 PSAC East, and will travel to Kutztown on Friday for a twinbill at 3 p.m.
