Softball Players Among Tops in Stats

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University softball team, along with several of its players, is ranked amongst the nations elite in the latest NCAA Division II statistical polls released this week.
As a team, Bloomsburg ranks fifth in the country in earned run average at 0.90. The Huskies are sixth in scoring averaging 7.41 runs per game. In won-loss percentage, the team stands eighth at .853, while being ranked 17th in batting average at .326.
Sara Roba (Emmaus/Emmaus) is ranked in three categories including runs batted in per game where she stands ninth averaging 1.27 RBI's per game. She also ranks ninth in doubles per game averaging 0.47 per game. In slugging percentage, Roba stands 13th at .849. Dee Wolfe (Milton/Milton) is 15th in doubles per game averaging 0.44, while Amanda Breon (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) is 18th in triples per game averaging 0.18. Amanda Smith (Sandy Ridge/Philipsburg-Osceola) is ranked in a pair of statistical categories. She is ninth in strikeouts per seven innings averaging 9.9, while also being ranked 37th in earned run average at 1.11. Jamie Wilson (Olyphant/Bishop O'Hara) is also ranked in earned run average where she stands 28th with an ERA of 0.99.
The Huskies are 31-5, 12-4 in the PSAC East, and will next be in action Friday as they host Millersville University at 2:30 p.m.
