Bloomsburg Softball Players Named to All-Region Team

BLOOMSBURG--Four members of the Bloomsburg University softball team have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region team.

Named first team All-Region were Alyson Taylor (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) and Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport), while Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) and Lisa Bohner (Northumberland/Shikellamy) were named second team All-Region selections.

Taylor, a senior, started 49 games at catcher for the Huskies in 2006 and finished with an average of .271 with a team-high 11 homers with 23 runs batted in. One of her best games of the season came on March 17th, against Columbia Union, when she went 2-4 with two homers and four RBI. In April she also had a four game stretch during which she went 8-13 with two homers and five RBI. Taylor was also named first team All-PSAC Eastern Division.

Tara Reed
Tara Reed

Reed, a freshman, was named All-Region at the Utility position after starring at both shortstop and pitcher for the Huskies this season. As a batter, Reed led the Huskies in hitting with a mark of .363 with eight homers and a team-high 33 runs batted in. She also had a team-leading 11 doubles, three triples and 106 total bases. Her slugging percentage of .592 also led the team. Reed also led the Huskies with 19 multi-hit games; 10 multi-RBI games and had a 14-game hitting streak during the season.

As a pitcher, Reed was 15-5 with a 1.22 ERA. She threw 126.1 innings and struck out 148 and walked just 13. Reed also had 16 complete games and eight shutouts during the season. The highlight of season as a pitcher came on March 25th when she tossed a five-inning no-hitter against West Virginia State. Two games later she fanned a career-high 13 batters in a win over Philadelphia University. During the season Reed was named the PSAC Player and Pitcher of the Week one time each and was later named first team All-PSAC Eastern Division at both shortstop and pitcher.

Ashley Lynn
Ashley Lynn

Lynn, a sophomore pitcher, was 18-10 this season for the Huskies with a 1.68 ERA. In 179 innings she struck out 182 and walked just 19 with 21 complete games and six shutouts. During the season she had five games with 10 or more strikeouts, including 10 in a win over Shippensburg on April 19th. During the season she was named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week once and was also named second team All-PSAC Eastern Division.

Lisa Bohner
Lisa Bohner

Bohner, a freshman, was named to the All-Region team as a designated player. Bohner hit .296 for the Huskies this season with five homers and 27 RBI. She also was second on the team in doubles with eight and in total bases with 74. Bohner's best game of the season came in a win over West Virginia State when she went 2-3 with three RBI and two run scored. Bohner was also a second team All-PSAC East selection this season.

Bloomsburg finished the year with a mark of 38-17.
