Tara Reed Named PSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

BLOOMSBURG- Bloomsburg University freshman Tara Reed (Williamsport/ Williamsport) has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 2nd.

Reed was perfect on the mound last week going 3-0 and posting a 0.00 ERA, while leading the Huskies to a 3-1 record for the week. She started the week out on Tuesday going four innings against Philadelphia striking out 13, while allowing just one hit in a 7-0 victory. Against PSAC-East rival Shippensburg on Friday, she threw a one-hit shutout and scored the game's only run in a 1-0 victory. In her final start of the week on Saturday, Reed did not allow an earned run and struck out 10 in helping the Huskies to a 6-4, eight-inning win over Kutztown. For the week, she worked 19 innings, allowing only 10 hits, no walks and striking out 27.

This is the second consecutive week that Reed has been awarded player of the week honors. Reed, who also plays shortstop, was named PSAC Player of the Week for the previous week.

For the season, Reed has a 6-3 record and a 1.07 ERA. She has 71 strikeouts in 52.1 innings pitched, while only allowing 37 hits and just six walks. As a shortstop, Reed is hitting .412 with six home runs and 17 RBI.

Bloomsburg, 20-8, will play at West Chester on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
