BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University's Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 29th.
Reed went 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA in three games as the Huskies clinched the PSAC East Division title and a No. 1 seed in the PSAC Championships this weekend. In three complete-game victories, Reed allowed just 12 hits in 21 innings of work while striking out 20 and walking just two. She capped off the week by downing East Stroudsburg, 1-0, on a two-hitter.
Reed, a freshman, finished the regular season for the Huskies with a 14-4 record and a 1.14 ERA. She also lead Bloomsburg at the plate with a .355 batting average racking up 10 doubles, three triples, seven homeruns and 30 runs batted in.
This is the second time this season that Reed has been named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week. She also won the PSAC East Player of the Week award once this season.
Bloomsburg begins play in the PSAC Championship Tournament at Lock Haven University this week. The Huskies have a first round bye and will play the winner of Kutztown and California at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
