BLOOMSBURG--Bloomsburg University freshman Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the period ending March 26th.
Reed, a shortstop and pitcher, hit an even .500 (12-24) in a 6-1 week for the Huskies. She pounded out four doubles, two home runs and a triple while collecting four RBI and scoring nine runs. In the sweep of Holy Family, Reed went 4-7 with three doubles and followed that up by going 5-for-10 with two homers and three RBI in first day action of the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament. In addition, she was 1-1 pitching, including a five-inning no hitter against West Virginia St. on Saturday. The no-hitter was the 47th in school history.
For the season, Reed is batting .380 with a team-high five home runs and 15 runs batted in. She is also the team-leader in runs scored with 19 and in hits with 27. As a pitcher she is 4-3 with a 1.39 ERA and four shutouts and six complete games. She has fanned 48 and walked just six in 40.1 innings of work.
Bloomsburg, 15-7, will host Philadelphia University in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday.
