Softball Team Earns NCAA Bid
BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University softball team earned its 25th consecutive bid to the NCAA Division II championships on Monday. The Huskies will be the third seed in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic regional that opens play on Thursday at Kutztown.
The Huskies, 35-13, will face sixth-seed North Carolina Central, 26-6, in an opening round game. Joining Bloomsburg in the regional will be Lock Haven (top seed); Kutztown (2nd seed); East Stroudsburg (4th); Shippensburg (5th); Edinboro (7th) and Bowie State (8th).
Bloomsburg will be looking to win its 11th regional title and first since the 2005 season. The Huskies are also the only team to appear in the NCAA Division II championship every year since 1983 and will be looking to earn its ninth trip to the finals in the last 16 years.
Should the Huskies win their opening game against North Carolina Central, they would face the winner of Kutztown/Edinboro on Friday at a time to be announced.
The winner of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional will advance to the NCAA championship round May 17-21 in Akron, Ohio.
