Lynn and Reed Named All-Americans
BLOOMSBURG-- Two members of the Bloomsburg University have been named All-American for the 2008 season.
Named second team All-American by Daktronics was pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville), while teammate Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) earned third All-American honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Lynn posted a record of 26-5 for the year with a 0.97 ERA and four saves. She fanned 221 in 217 innings of work while walking just 22. She also had 25 complete games and threw 10 shutouts during the season. Lynn, who was named the PSAC East Pitcher of the Year and first team All-Region by both Daktronics and the NFCA and was named to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region All-Tournament team, finished her career as the all-time leader at Bloomsburg in career strike outs with 679. She is also number two all-time in innings pitched for a career with 628; third in career shutouts with 31 and is fourth in career wins with 73. During the year she hit a career-high for strikeouts in a single with 14 on two occasions.
Reed was named third team All-American by the NFCA as a utility player (shortstop/pitcher). During the year Reed led the Huskies and was third in the PSAC in batting average with a mark of .398. She had one homer and 31 RBI and also led the Huskies in runs scored with 42, hits with 82 and in doubles with 16. Reed also saw time as a pitcher and posted a mark of 8-3 with a 1.27 ERA. She struck out 91 and walked just 13 in 77 innings of work.
Reed was named first All-PSAC East at shortstop, first team All-Region by Daktronics (SS) and first team utility by the NFCA. She also earned a spot on the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region All-Tournament team.
Bloomsburg posted a record of 51-11 on the year and reached the NCAA playoffs for the 26th consecutive season.
