Lynn Pitcher of the Year; Mauro Rookie of the Year in PSAC East

BLOOMSBURG-- Five members of the Bloomsburg University softball team have earned all conference honors from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Named the PSAC East Pitcher of the Year and first team All-PSAC East was Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville), while Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) was named the PSAC East Rookie of the Year and first team All-PSAC East as an outfielder. Earning first team All-PSAC East at shortstop was Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport), while outfielder Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia) was named first team with pitcher Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) earning second team All-PSAC East honors.

In addition, Lynn was named to the Daktronics All Mid-Atlantic region first team as a pitcher, while Reed earned first team honors at shortstop and Mauro first team honors in the outfield. Skiko picked up second team honors in the outfield from Daktronics.

Lynn is 23-3 so far this season for the Huskies with a 0.86 ERA. She has 195 strikeouts in 186 innings of work to go with 21 complete games and nine shutouts. For the season she has allowed just 16 walks, including none in her last 21 innings of work and just four over her last 35 innings. Lynn, who was recently named the team MVP, was the PSAC East pitcher of the week for March 24. A year ago Lynn was named first team All-PSAC East and first team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Mauro earned Rookie of the Year honors by hitting .373 to date with 25 runs batted in, 12 doubles and 28 runs scored. Mauro is second on the team in multi-hit games with 14 and had an 11-game hitting streak earlier in the year. She was named PSAC East player of the week on April 20 after hitting .520 in eight games, including a stretch of 10 for 15 in four games.

Reed, a junior, earned first team honors at shortstop by hitting a team-high .404 for the year with a homer and a team-best 31 RBI. She also leads the team in runs scored with 40, hits with 76, doubles with 15, total bases with 102, and steals with 13 and is second in slugging with a mark of .543. She has had 22 mulit-hit games this season and earlier in the year had a 24-game hitting streak. Reed was second team All-PSAC East at shortstop last year after being first team All-PSAC at both shortstop and pitcher and first team All-Region by the NFCA as a freshman.

Shiko, a sophomore, is third on the team in hitting with a mark of .347 with two homers and 14 RBI. She is third on the team in runs scored with 26 and in hits with 42 and has 10 multi-hit games this season. A year ago she was named first team All-PSAC East and first team All-Region by the NFCA.

Fisher, a senior, earns All-PSAC honors for the first time in her career. Fisher is 16-3 to date with a 0.99 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 113 innings of work with seven shutouts. She was named the PSAC East pitcher of the week on April 20 after going 3-0 the prior week, including a no-hitter.

Bloomsburg, 48-9, is taking part in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional championships this week at Kutztown University.
