Kutztown Wins PSAC Men's Tennis Title-Bloomsburg Third

BLOOMSBURG-- The Kutztown University men's tennis team won its fourth straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) men's tennis championship with a 5-0 win over Millersville on Saturday at Bloomsburg University. In the consolation match, Bloomsburg defeated East Stroudsburg, 5-4, to claim third place.

In the title match, the Golden Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play with the team of Somdeep Appineni and Gernot Gruss winning at number three by an 8-0. Kutztown won easy matches at number four and five singles to claim the title. Winning the Most Valuable Player Award for the tournament was Lukas Beman who won all four of his matches played in the tournament.

Kutztown improves to 10-2 with the win.

In the consolation match, the Huskies pulled out a 5-4 win over the Warriors. The winning match came from Wil Biddle who pulled out a two-set win by scores of 6-3 and 7-5 at number four singles. Biddle trailed in the second set, 4-1, but broke serve on the next point and rallied to win six of the next seven points to earn the win.

Bloomsburg goes to 8-8 with its win.
