Men's And Women's Tennis Teams Regionally Ranked

BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's tennis teams are ranked regionally in the latest ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Atlantic Region poll. The Bloomsburg men's team is second, while the women's team is ranked fourth.

The men's team, 7-1 on the season, is led by Fernando Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh), ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region for singles play. Perez is 11-4 on the season, including 5-3 at number one singles. In addition, Mark Schroeder (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) is 10-2 and Ryan Glubo (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) 8-3 for the Huskies. In doubles play, the team of Perez and Glubo is ranked fifth in the region and has a mark of 4-1 for the season.

The women's team, 9-3, has two players ranked in the top 15 singles players in the Atlantic Region. Katie Hasyn (Lansdale/North Penn) is ranked number 13, while Emily Palko (McMurray/Peters Township) is number 15. Hasyn is 8-4 on the year playing at number one singles, while Palko is 10-2, seeing time at both two and three singles. In doubles play, the team of Palko and Alison Carney (Muncy/Warrior Run) is ranked ninth and has a record of 6-6 for the season.

Both Bloomsburg teams will be back in action at Millersville on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
