BU Players Advance at ITA Regionals

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team is hosting the ITA Atlantic region championships this weekend.

In men's "A" singles action, the Huskies Fernando Perez (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-0, win over Marty Makowski of Millersville. In addition, Perez and his teammate Jeff Nuhfer (Warren/Warren Area) beat a team from Millersville to earn a spot in Sunday's "A" doubles quarterfinals action.

In "B" singles, Ryan Glubo (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) beat Travis Jones of Virginia State, 8-0, to earn a spot in the quarterfinal round. Joining Glubo in the round of eight will be teammate Mark Shroeder (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) who beat Henry Ben of Millersville, 8-1, and Dewayne Dixon of Virginia State, 8-3.

In "B" doubles play, the team of Glubo and Alan Hummel (Manheim/Hempfield) beat a team from Millersville, 9-7, to move into the quarterfinals.

Play will resume on Sunday morning on Bloomsburg's Upper Campus courts.
