Mary Bacher Sets Stadium Mark at East Stroudsburg Meet

EAST STROUDSBURG--Mary Bacher (New Tripoli/Allentown Central Catholic) set an Eiler-Martin Stadium record in the women's steeplechase event to lead the Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams at the East Stroudsburg Invitational on Sunday.

Bacher took first in a time of 11:20.37 to set a new stadium mark and also improved her NCAA provisional qualifying time in the process.

In other events, Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) took first in the 3000-meter race in a field of 15 in a time of 10:25.25 with Toni Zangari (Sunbury/Shikellamy) fifth in 11:05.71. Schwing's time also qualified her for the upcoming PSAC championships.

At 200-meters, Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/St. Pius X) was third of 17 competitors in a time of 26.92, while Christa Johnson (Nescopeck/Berwick) sixth of 20 at 800-meters in 2:31.10.

At 5000-meters, Megan Chaudrue (Carlisle/Carlisle) finished in a time of 19:48.21.

On the men's side, the Huskies swept the top three places at 3000-meters with Mike Espinosa (Media/Penncrest) taking first in 9:05.95 with Dave Sanford (Nescopeck/Central Columbia) second at 9:07.48 and Mikail Litinov (Drums/Hazleton) third in 9:10.27.

At 800-meters, Dan Tallerico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) placed third in a field of 26 in 1:56.94, while in the men's steeplechase, Jim Stockley (Elverson/Twin Valley) was third in a time of 10:18.26. At 5000-meters, Tim Marcoe (Lansdale/Lansdale Catholic) was second in 15:55.58.
