Sarah Bounds Second at PSAC Track Championships
CALIFORNIA--Bloomsburg University's Sarah Bounds (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) finished second in the 10,000-meter event at the 2006 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Track and Field Championships being held at California (PA) University.
Bounds, a junior, took second place out of 14 competitors in the event finishing in a time of 38:22.14 to earn All-PSAC honors. Senior Toni Zangari (Sunbury/Shikellamy) earned a spot on the podium by finishing 8th of 14 in 39:47.32.
In the men's 10,000 meter event, Mike Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) finished in 33:06.65, but did not earn a spot on the podium.
At 400-meters for the women, Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/St. Pius X) qualified for Saturday's finals by taking sixth in the trials in 58.74 seconds. Raineri came back an hour later in the long jump, but did not earn any awards after jumping 15'10.5" inches. She also ran in the 200-meter trails, but did not advance after posting a time of 26.41 seconds.
In the men's 800-meter race, Dan Tallarico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) qualified for the Saturday's finals with an eighth place finish in a time of 1:55.95, while Dave Sanford (Nescopeck/Central Columbia) just missed qualifying for the finals with a 10th place finish in 1:56.70.
Bloomsburg's Greg McGhee (Philadelphia/Cheltenham) was a scratch in the 100- and 200-meter events due to the lingering effects of an injury.
