Huskies Conclude PSAC Track Championships With Podium Finishes
CALIFORNIA, PA--The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track teams wrapped up action at the 2006 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships with several athletes earning a spot on the podium.
On the women's side, freshman Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) earned a podium finish in both the 5,000- and 3,000-meter events. At 5,000-meters, Schwing was fourth of 19 competitors in a time of 18:07, while at 3,000-meters, she was seventh of 11 runners in 10:42.
In the women's steeplechase, Mary Bacher (New Tripoli/Allentown Central Catholic) took sixth, despite suffering a fall late in the race, in a time of 11:30, while at 400-meters Connie Raineri (Gilbertsville/St. Pius X) was eighth in 60.12 seconds.
For the men, Dave Sanford (Nescopeck/Central Columbia) was seventh at 1,500-meters in a time of 4:03.15, while Dan Tallarico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) was seventh at 800-meters in 2:00.37. At 5,000-meters, Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp/Seneca Valley) was eighth in 15:02.
