Bloomsburg Indoor Track Teams Have Busy Day


BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University men's and women's indoor track teams took part in two events on Saturday.

At the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory in New York City Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) finished seventh of 21 runners at 5,000 meters running 17:46.90. That time also put her on the national performance list for Division II.

Andrea Kellock (Lansdale/North Penn) set a school record in the mile at the New Balance Invitational, breaking the mark she set just a week ago, after running 5:03.63 to finish 10th of 35 runners. Kellock was also the first division II finisher and also qualified for the national performance list.

Also racing at 5,000 meters at the New Balance event were Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) who ran an 18:37.24 and Ashley Shuck (Milton/Milton) who finished in 19:01.52.

On the men's side at the New Balance event, Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) and Misha Litvinov (Drums/Hazleton) both competed at 5,000 meters with Dalton improving his PSAC qualifying time with a mark of 15:28.17, while Litvinov overcome a fall to finish in 15:39.25.

At the Bucknell Winter Classic, Sandy Newell (St. Mary's/Elk County Catholic) won the 800-meter race in a time of 2:20.80, while at 5,000 meters Shannon Hoffman (Watsontown/Warrior Run) was fourth of 16 runners in a PSAC-qualifying time of 19:02.29, while in the mile Angela Borealo (Easton/Easton) was fourth of 29 runners with a PSAC-qualifying time of 5:22.26.
